| Abstract: |
The original Management Plan for Historic Bridges in Virginia was completed in 2001 (VTRC 01-R11). It identified the management/treatment needs for over 50 bridges in Virginia which are individually eligible for, or are listed on, the National Register of Historic Places and are under state purview.
When that initial management plan was completed and implemented, it included recommendations that VDOT, through its research division, VCTIR, should review and update the plan approximately every 10 years.
The scoping phase of this update (which includes information on the current conditions of these bridges and how best to update the 2001 plan relational database) has been completed (VCTIR 14-R9).
This new project is the main phase of the update. It will include expanded maintenance recommendations and will address current management issues for these historic structures.
