| Abstract: |
VDOT was among the state participants in an FHWA sponsored implementation program for SHRP 2 renewal products titled: Composite Pavement Systems (R21). This participation involved design and construction of a new composite pavement as maintenance replacement for part of US 60 W in Richmond district. The purpose of this study is to formally document VDOT’s experience with the new composite pavement. This documentation will include design assumptions and methods, construction steps and challenges, early-life performance including some basic behavioral characteristics (i.e., internal temperature fluctuation), and a qualitative assessment of the benefits of composite pavement in general. |
