Repair of Metal Culverts with Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC), the Bendable Concrete Metal culverts deteriorate mainly in the inverts because of abrasion and corrosion. ECC is a mortar mixture with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers and is bendable when hardened. VDOT has been using ECC in thicknesses less than 1 inch to repair the inverts of metal culverts.
