Prestressed Concrete Piles made with Corrosion Free Carbon Fiber Composite Cable

The world’s first application of corrosion-free carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strands in prestressed concrete piles in a highway structure. 

This work led to the implementation of corrosion-free CFRP prestressing strands in bridge structures by VDOT.
